I am originally from a small town in Michigan, and I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in English, in Southern California, at Azusa Pacific University and Chapman University, respectively. I was selected for the Lilly Graduate Fellows Program as I began my doctoral work at Baylor University. I graduated with my Ph.D. in English in 2016 and later that year, I joined the Language and Literature Department at Sterling College in Kansas.

My favorite books (in no specific order) are The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, and No Man Is an Island by Thomas Merton. Peruse my Commonplace Book to see what I’m currently reading or teaching.

When I’m not studying, I enjoy long-distance running, traveling, writing, and reading.
